The Oak Ridges Moraine is a ridge of sandy hills covering 190,000 hectares and stretching 160 km from the Niagara Escarpment in the west to the Trent River in the east. The Moraine includes sensitive environmental, geological and hydrological features. The Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan divides the moraine into four land use designations (Natural Core Areas, Natural Linkage Area, Countryside Areas and Settlement Areas) and provides land use and resource management policies for each one.
