On November 12, 2015, Marcy Burchfield appeared on The Agenda with host Steve Paikin as part of a panel that also included Keith Currie of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Joe Vaccaro of the Ontario Home Builders' Association.
The discussion included questions of whether the Greenbelt should be expanded or whether the land on which it sits is needed for housing, as well as ideas for the David Crombie panel currently reviewing the Greenbelt Plan.
Marcy cited Neptis research that shows there is already plenty of land for housing without encroaching on the Greenbelt. She also pointed to the need to change suburban development patterns to use land more efficiently. Finally, she discussed the need to plan for rural lands outside the Greenbelt so that these lands are not treated simply as lands awaiting development, but can be secured in the long term for agriculture.
